SNPR is bracing ourselves yet again financially for a
very special pug who desperately needs our help. Bleu is
approximately 7 years old and if his body tells us any
kind of story, he has had a miserable 7 years prior to
finding his way dumped at the local animal shelter.
Who can believe that being left at a shelter would be
the end of this sad eyed beauty's life? After being
evaluated by medical staff at the shelter, they decided
he would not survive or get adopted in the main area so
they referred him to rescue. That was the best decision
Bleu had heard that awful day. SNPR vets looked at Bleu
and found that Bleu has probably been in awful pain and
discomfort most of his life.
He has clearly lived his entire life outdoors and has the
medical conditions to prove it.
His entire body (especially his belly) is covered with a
bacterial and yeast infection and his ears are as bad as
they get. Both ears are full of 2 kinds of bacteria. The
kind that the Dr. is most worried about are the bacteria
that is shaped like large rods. These are particularly hard
to treat and very uncomfortable for a poor little guy. The
vet did an immediate culture and skin scraping to determine
how to proceed with Bleu's skin and ear care.
But this is just the beginning of what Bleu has been living
with.
Bleu has two knees that are no longer in place and basically
are bone on bone. (OUCH!) He hops and limps to move and is
in a lot of pain. Bleu will require surgery on BOTH knees as
well as long on-going treatments on his skin, and ears.
Bleu's skin is so inflamed that the Dr. is not even
comfortable doing a neuter on him at this time. Bleu will
need several days of intensive therapy baths and medicine to
get the swelling down before SNPR neuters him and he has his
first knee operated on. Both knee's can not be done at one
time so ideally we will have his neuter and one knee done
next week and then after approximately 6 weeks, have his
other knee done.
That is where we need your help.
SNPR has already taken in 100 pugs in 2011. Considering we
took in 108 in 2010, and it is not even October yet, we
simply cannot keep up financially. We have always and will
always be a rescue that agrees to take in these special need
dogs without considering the financial aspect of it. We
think first of the pug, get him safely into rescue, and only
then have always turned to our wonderful supporters and
asked for help. Every countless time we have thought first
of the pug, this pug loving community has always shown us we
made the right decision.
Bleu is hoping now is not any different.
We now need to raise at least $2,500 dollars to start to
help with Bleu's care so we can have the first knee and
intensive skin treatments started ASAP. We know times are
tough for everyone and we would be so very grateful for
anything you can do to help Bleu. If everyone who follows us
on Facebook and watches our web site gave even $10 dollars,
we would be able to ensure Bleu gets both surgeries and any
follow up treatments he will need to show him that people
can be trusted. That he is in good hands now. He needs a
whole lot of Angels reconfirming his trust.
He needs you and so do we. -As always, Pug Hugs and THANK
YOUs for anything you can do for us.
